State police are looking for a Bradford, Pa., man who allegedly scammed a Grand Island resident out of a mint condition, 1952 Mickey Mantle baseball card worth $2,500.

William Krebs of Elsie Lane said he was selling baseball cards in the Niagara Falls Convention & Civic Center Saturday when a Bradford man purchased two Mickey Mantle cards, circa 1951 and 1952, from him for $3,500, using a line of credit check, police said.

On Sunday, the man returned the two cards to Krebs, saying he changed his mind and had put a hold on the check. When Krebs looked at the cards later, however, he told police that the 1952 card he sold the man had been switched with another one that was in poor condition and worth only between $700 and $1,000, police said.
