Here's a recipe for a Halloween party favorite:
BOBBING APPLE PUNCH
1teaspoon powdered cinnamon
1/2 cup sugar
1stick (1-inch) cinnamon
1small piece lemon rind
Core apples and pare halfway down; fill centers with powdered cinnamon and sugar. Bake in a 350-degree oven for half an hour or until tender.
Meanwhile, tie cinnamon stick and cloves in a cheesecloth bag; let simmer in 2 cups cider with nutmeg and lemon rind for 15 minutes. Remove bag. Add vanilla and remaining cider; heat. Serve with apples afloat. (Apples should be eaten with a spoon.) Makes 12 servings.
