Police are searching for two men who held up Manhattan's upscale Tavern on the Green restaurant, then robbed a taxi driver in the Bronx.
The two men entered the second floor bar at the posh Central Park restaurant at 8:40 p.m. Tuesday and ordered drinks. Ten minutes later, one of the men pulled out a handgun and told the bartender, "This is a stickup," said Officer Martin Foley, a police department spokesman.
After the bartender handed over $200 cash, the two left the restaurant and caught a cab to the Bronx. When they had arrived at the destination, they robbed the cabbie and fled, Foley said. He said he did not know how much money was taken.
A man who answered the phone at the restaurant late Tuesday said only that the restaurant had closed following the incident.
