"The Roast, Roast, Roast, toast of Arthur Eve," originally planned for tonight in the Buffalo Convention Center will be held Thursday night instead, Eve said today.
The event, which the Deputy Assembly speaker said will be the first time he has been roasted "publicly," would have conflicted with the Urban League's annual Evans/Young Humanitarian Award Dinner tonight in the Hyatt Regency Buffalo.
That event, starting at 6 p.m., features Joseph E. Lowery, president of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference, as the main speaker.
The Rev. Bennett W. Smith, president of the National Baptist Progressive Convention and pastor of St. John Baptist Church, will receive the award.
Eve's roasting, which also will include the roasting of Norman McConney, his chief of staff, will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday in the Convention Center.
