'SLEEPERS' STAYS AWAKE IN TOP SPOT AT BOX OFFICE

"Sleepers," the revenge drama starring Brad Pitt, Dustin Hoffman and Robert De Niro, was No. 1 at the box office for a second straight week, industry sources said Sunday.

The film pulled in $9.7 million in preliminary tallies to edge out three newcomers.

The Jon Lovitz comedy "High School High" debuted in second place with a $7 million take, followed by the Stephen King horror thriller "Thinner," with $5.8 million.

Other top 10 films:

Tie; "The Associate," First Wives Club" and "The Ghost and the Darkness," $4.4 million each.

"The Long Kiss Goodnight," $4.1 million.

"Michael Collins," $2.5 million.

"That Thing You Do," $2.1 million.

"D3-The Mighty Ducks," $1.8 million.
