FREDONIA DRIVER CRITICALLY INJURED

VILLENOVA -- A Fredonia man was critically injured Saturday night after his car went off the road and hit a tree at a high rate of speed, splitting the car in two and ejecting him.

Donald H. Centner, 47, was driving west at 6:15 p.m. on Route 83 near East Mud Lake Road when his car went off the road and into a ditch, hit a cement culvert and became airborne, hitting a tree.

He was taken by Mercyflight to Erie County Medical Center, Buffalo, where he was listed in critical condition with two collapsed lungs, two broken legs, a possible broken back and other internal injuries.

State police at Fredonia estimated the car was traveling at 74 mph.
