Carrie B. Frank has been named interim president and chief executive officer of Buffalo General Health System, succeeding John E. Friedlander, who has been chosen to head a new merged health-care system of three of Buffalo's largest hospitals.
The appointment of Ms. Frank, who has served as executive vice president and chief operating officer at Buffalo General since 1993, represents part of the domino effect from the proposed merger of Buffalo General, Children's and Millard Fillmore hospitals.
Her appointment will free Friedlander from his administrative duties at Buffalo General to work on the merger.
Ms. Frank, a Canisius College graduate and a Tonawanda resident, joined Buffalo General's finance department in 1981.
She later was named general accounting manager, director of finance, vice president of finance, chief financial officer and senior vice president.
