The Breeders' Cup races will be held today at Woodbine in Toronto starting at 1:30 p.m. (Ch. 2, coverage on Ch. 5 starts at 12:30 p.m.). Admission is $15 for the seven races, a bargain because this event really has the horses. A simulcast of the races will serve as today's card at Fort Erie, which will open for live racing Sunday at 1:10 p.m. Buffalo Raceway will take simulcast betting on the Breeders' Cup races in the afternoon and will follow it with a live card at 7:30.

The Hartford Whalers visit the Marine Midland Arena tonight at 7:30 p.m. for a game against the Buffalo Sabres.

The Canisius football team takes on St. John's today at 3 p.m. at the Demske Sports Complex.

Things to view

Night game in Foxboro. Things could be Halloween strange Sunday at 8 when the Buffalo Bills take on the New England Patriots in a game that will be televised on Channel 7 and TNT.

The World Series will wrap up in New York this weekend with Games Six tonight at 7:30 and, if necessary, Game Seven on Sunday at 7 p.m. on Channel 29.

The Buffalo Sabres wrap up a stretch of three games in four days Sunday against the New York Rangers in Madision Square Garden at 7 (Empire).
