Two pets perished in a smoky fire at a house at 216 1/2 Barrows St. Thursday night.

Jamestown firefighters were called to the Joseph Ingrao home just before 6 p.m. Assistant Chief James McNally said "the house was fully charged with smoke."

"We found the first floor and part of the second floor in flames. We put the fire out in about 25 minutes," he said.

The cause remains under investigation but McNally said the fire apparently started on the first floor near the back of the house.

A dog and a cat died in the fire. There were no other injuries.
