Despite being handcuffed, a Harbor Creek, Pa., man escaped following a drunken driving arrest Friday.

Chautauqua County sheriff's officers pulled over Clair E. Eakin, 31, on Route 5 at 2:20 a.m. and found he was illegally in possession of a white tail deer. A deputy handcuffed Eakin, behind his back, then put him in the back of a patrol car. Eakin fled when the officer went to help the tow truck driver who came to impound the car. Officers searched the area but did not find Eakin.

Eakin is charged with DWI, third-degree escape and illegal possession of a deer.
