A quarantine calling for confining of all dogs from sunset to one hour after sunrise is now in effect in the town of Stockton and the Village of Cassadaga.
The order is the result of a series of pet and livestock killings over the past several weeks in the Stockton area. Officials have said coyotes or wild dogs may be killing the animals.
Dog owners not complying with the order can be fined. Local officials will have the authority to capture and kill any dogs that are not confined, according to state Agricultural and Market laws.
