Leonard B. Nicholas, 61, of Medina, a farm worker and agricultural manager, died Wednesday (Oct. 23, 1996) in Medina Memorial Hospital after a long illness.
Born in Bickmore, W.Va., he came to the Orleans County area 45 years ago and was involved with farming for most of his life, managing farms and buying and selling produce. He worked for 20 years for Lakeside Fruit Farms.
He also drove a tractor-trailer for a brief time. He retired due to ill health in 1992.
He enjoyed gardening and traveling.
Surviving are his wife of 31 years, the former Elizabeth Johnson; three sons, Steve Porter of Ontario, Joseph Porter of Thunder Bay, Ont., and Mark Porter of Niagara Falls; two daughters, Beryl Ann Keyes and Eleanor Schoolcraft; two brothers, Ernest Nichols and Harold Nichols, both of West Virginia; two sisters, Rosie Workman and Pearl Graham, both of West Virginia; 12 grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in Barnes-Tuttle Funeral Home, 226 Pearl St. Interment will be in Boxwood Cemetery.
