Janet Cuoco, 81, a retired teacher, died Oct. 1, 1996, in Eden Heights Retirement Home, Eden, after a long illness.
Born Janet Benson in Jamestown, she graduated from Fredonia Normal School and began her teaching career in a one-room school in Clymer. She taught for 17 years in the Lake Shore Central School District in Angola, retiring in 1972. After her retirement, she lived in Gowanda.
She was active in Scouting organizations, homemaker clubs, bridge clubs, church fellowships and teaching organizations in Fredonia, Angola and Gowanda. During the 1950s and 1960s, she worked summers in the Tally-Ho Hotel in Chautauqua.
She was the widow of Joseph Cuoco.
Surviving are two sons, James Manuel of Dallas and Thomas Manuel of Dublin, Ireland; two stepsons, Leonard Cuoco and Wil Elliot; a stepdaughter, Janet Lawson of Cumberland, Md.; and two sisters, Mary Barnes of Fredonia and Lourene Wheelock of Falconer.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in Lakeside Memorial Park Mausoleum, Hamburg.
