Former Grateful Dead lyricist John Perry Barlow has few regrets, if any, about the drugs he's ingested in his lifetime.

In a cyberspace chat with fans on the Web site for the Times Union of Albany on Wednesday night, Barlow was asked if he still stood by a past statement that taking acid was the best thing he ever did.

"Having kids was the best thing I ever did. Taking acid was the second best thing I ever did," said Barlow, who collaborated with Grateful Dead band members on songs from the 1970s to the late 1980s.

Barlow, 49, did not say whether he still uses drugs.
