An 18-year-old Niagara University freshman accused of raping a female student while she slept in a campus dormitory has been placed under administrative suspension, a Niagara official said Monday.
The alleged rape occurred early the morning of Sept. 29 in Seton Hall, a dormitory on the Lewiston campus that is coed by floors. Thomas G. Zalocha of McKinley Parkway, Buffalo, was charged later that day by state police with first-degree rape.
Zalocha lived in the same dormitory as the victim.
The victim, a 19-year-old student, was treated in Mount St. Mary's Hospital in Lewiston before taking several days off from school. She has since
resumed her studies.
Zalocha spent a night in Niagara County Jail before he was arraigned, at which time he pleaded innocent. He is awaiting a preliminary hearing.
