Sharon M. Eley of Attica, a longtime nurse and health-care provider, died Sunday (Oct. 20, 1996) in Roswell Park Cancer Institute after a long illness. She was 54.
Ms. Eley was born in Batavia, where she was a 1960 graduate of Notre Dame High School. She graduated from St. James School of Nursing in Hornell in 1963, after which she was employed at Erie County Medical Center as a certified emergency room nurse. She also worked at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester and Genesee Memorial Hospital in Batavia.
She was a health-care provider for the American Heart Association and an emergency medical technician paramedic.
A life member of the Sports Car Club of America, she was a volunteer nurse at Watkins Glen Raceway. In addition, she was a member of the Mid-Atlantic Air Museum and in charge of the Race Medical Glen Region of the Sports Car Club of America and a member of the Race Communication Association.
Ms. Eley also was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Attica.
She is survived by a sister, Marilyn E. English of Buffalo.
A memorial Mass will be offered at 10 a.m. Thursday in St. Vincent de Paul Church, 50 East Ave., Attica. Burial will be in the church cemetery.[hmcnl]
