REPORT CARD WEEK 8

BILLS 25, JETS 22
RUNNING GAME

BILLS (B): Did OK against No. 27 run defense. Thurman ran hard again. Ran some clock, which aided defense.

JETS (C): Gained 64 yards in first half, but none on only four tries in second. Murrell isn't a bad back.

PASSING GAME

BILLS (C): Kelly looked more poised, confident. But attack made too many other mistakes. Dropped passes. No big plays.

JETS (B ): Reich showed the smarts he displayed so many times with the Bills. Line held up. Keyshawn is a blue-chipper.
RUN DEFENSE

BILLS (B ): Final numbers were good, but first half was a bit shaky. Benefited from fact offense controlled ball.

JETS (C): Injury-riddled front seven proved vulnerable again. But held up inside the red zone.
PASS DEFENSE

BILLS (C-): Pass rush ineffective against heady Reich. Yielded tying drive near the end. Finally got some INTs.

JETS (B): Wisely didn't blitz much. Unlike first seven games, didn't get burned with big plays.
SPECIAL TEAMS

BILLS (A): What more can be said about Christie? He's the Iceman. Burris showed he's a fine punt returner.

JETS (C): Lowery's missed field goal from 43 was a killer. Kickoff returns were weak.
COACHING

BILLS (B-): Offense still has a long, long way to go. But at least they didn't beat themselves with turnovers. A win is a win.

JETS (B ): Nice game plan for Reich. Relied on safe passes. Hit slants. Protection plan was super. Did everything they could but win.
