Ten low and moderate-income families in South Buffalo and West Seneca will be able to purchase their first homes due to $50,000 awarded to First Federal Savings and Loan Association of Rochester by the Federal Home Loan Bank.
Families which meet income eligibility requirements can receive grants of up to $5,000 toward a down payment and closing costs.
To receive a grant, families must establish a savings account in a Home Buyers Saver's Club program administered by First Federal. Every dollar saved will be matched 3-to-1 up to a maximum of $5,000.
Applications for the funding will be taken Monday and Wednesday, Oct. 21 and 23, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., and on Friday, Oct. 25, from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. at First Federal's East Clinton office at 1989 Clinton St.
For an appointment or more information, contact branch manager Kathie Misztal at 826-1700. Qualified participants will be assembled on a first come, first served basis.
