Dominique Wilkins thought his one-year Greek League nightmare was over and done with. Now his former team is challenging his contract with the San Antonio Spurs, keeping him from playing.

The dispute will be addressed at an arbitration hearing in London next week.

"It should be cleared up in the next few days. I'll keep practicing and I'll be ready to play when this is over. The contract has legally been severed," Wilkins said in New York after the Spurs lost, 97-76, to the in an exhibition game Thursday night.

It is standard procedure for NBA clubs to check a player's contract status after he has spent time overseas.

When the league checked with the Greek Basketball Federation, they were told Wilkins still had a valid contract with Panathinaikos of Athens, the team he led to the European club championship last spring.
