Gunfire hit two men, and a woman attacked a man with a baseball bat Wednesday night in separate incidents, authorities said.
Todd Epps, 28, of Verdun Place was shot in the upper torso on the sidewalk on the 100 block of Sanford Street at 7:50 p.m. by an unknown gunman, according to homicide police, who investigated because of the serious nature of the wound.
Epps underwent surgery in Erie County Medical Center and was in recovery this morning, according to center officials, who said his condition was unavailable. Kensington Station police initially responded to the shooting.
Michael Dawkins, age unavailable, of Vermont Street was also in recovery today in the medical center, recuperating from surgery for a bullet wound to the left buttocks.
The shot was fired by an unknown person at 9:15 p.m. in the Chester Street area, according to Downtown District police.
Ray Andino of 10th Street told Downtown District officers that Lisa Vazquez, 33, hit him several times on the head with a baseball bat at 7:45 p.m. in his residence, authorities said.
Ms. Vazquez, who gave the same address as Andino, was charged with second-degree assault and criminal possession of a weapon, police said.
