The Hanover Town Board has approved a contractor for a water line project at Lake Shore Hospital at Routes 5 and 20 in Irving.
The board at its meeting Tuesday agreed to pay Kandey Co. $134,421 to install a new 8-inch water line at the hospital with grant money from the county and federal governments.
"Everything was handled through the town," Councilman Chum Bowker said. "We got the grant for them to put the water line in."
Bowker said work on the project is expected to begin immediately.
The town is the lead agent for the project and will provide in-kind services for the installation work.
The new line is being installed to replace the current line, which is under a building addition at the hospital. If repairs were ever necessary, it would be too costly, Bowker said.
In other business, the board arranged a payment schedule for three residents who have hooked into a new one-inch water line on Beebe Road, which is outside the town's water district. The property owners will make two payments of $369.92 to the town on Nov. 18 and on March 31. No interest will be charged. A fourth resident tapping into the Beebe Road line will be responsible for paying his share of the $2,217 total cost to the three others.
Town officials decided to delay announcing the status of the 1997 budget pending completion of negotiations with the Village of Silver Creek for the fire contract.
