A 33-year-old woman found dead in bed in a Seymour Street home Tuesday night is believed to be a suicide, police said.
"We are considering it, for a number of different reasons, as a suicide overdose," said South District Inspector William J. Mullen.
Officers found no signs of trauma on the body, Mullen said. The body was taken to the county medical examiner's office, where an autopsy was to be performed today.
A man and a woman, one of them a relative of the woman, discovered the body in a bedroom at 58 Seymour and called 911 at 6:30 p.m. The caller reported that the house was "trashed" and that a baby was locked in a closet.
Mullen said a little boy, about 2 years old, was found in the same room as the woman's body but didn't know exactly where.
"The child is fine," the inspector said.
Several relatives of the dead woman also rushed to the house and were allowed inside, further suggesting police believe her death was not criminal in nature.
