A Falconer man is charged with first-degree robbery in the holdup early Tuesday of the Quality Market on South Work Street.

Skippy E. Gifford, 40, of East Main Street was arrested on East Second Street in Jamestown about an hour after the robbery.

Town of Ellicott Police said a man wearing a ski mask entered the store just before 1:30 a.m. and told employees he had a gun, although none was visible. He fled with an unknown amount of cash, police said.

Police said store employees identified Gifford as the robber, and money was recovered. Gifford was sent to Chautauqua County Jail with no bail set.
