ASHLEY ST. MAN CHARGED WITH BEATING WOMAN

Police charged an Ashley Street man with second-degree assault after a woman was beaten with a curtain rod late Tuesday in their home, authorities said today.

David Johnson, 38, was accused of hitting Regina Crosby, age unavailable, on the head, face and other portions of her body, causing welts and bruises, according to arresting Officers Daniel Barrett and Michael Toy.

Johnson, who was arrested at 11:20 p.m. in his home, also punched the woman in the eye, police said.
