BOOK AND BAKE SALE -- The Eden Library's annual book and bake sale will be held this week at the library, 2901 E. Church St. The early bird sale is from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, with books and baked goods on sale from 1 to 5 p.m. Thursday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday. A bag sale will be held from 10 a.m. to noon Oct. 19. Proceeds benefit the library. . . .
A BEER BLAST, sponsored by the Doyle Volunteer Hose Company No. 2, will be held from 8 to 11 p.m. Friday at the Knights of Columbus Hall on Union Road near William Street in Cheektowaga to raise money for the Larry Rokitka Benefit Fund.
Rokitka is a volunteer firefighter who needs a lung transplant. All proceeds will go to the fund to help offset some of the expenses of the operation, according to Thomas Krawczyk, a member of the fund committee. Tickets are $10 and include beer, snacks and music by The Changing Times. . . .
