The Hamburg Central School District's athletic field on Legion Drive is undergoing changes to enhance its appearance, including a new wooden sign that was installed last week.
Howe Field, located between the junior and senior high schools, had long been without a sign until the Hamburg Bulldog Alumni Group donated the sign that was placed at the entrance of the field.
In addition, a garden of shrubs will be planted in the spring to help improve the field's entrance, said Associate Superintendent Edwin Osborne. A tree was planted earlier this year in memory of Donald F. Gerhard, who was the district's buildings and grounds superintendent at the time of his death last March.
The existing ticket booth also will probably be moved, with a new one to be built in the spring, Osborne said.
