The body of a young man who had been shot to death was dumped Saturday evening along a desolate stretch of East Amherst Street.
A call to 911 shortly before 9 p.m. reported a man lying in the street near 355 E. Amherst. The ambulance crew that went to the scene discovered the man had been shot at least once.
Buffalo Police Inspector Daniel E. Redmond said the man, whose identity was not immediately released, appeared to have been shot in the chest.
The victim was black and appeared to be in his 20s. He was dressed in a green Army fatigue jacket, blue jeans and white sneakers.
"It looks like someone shot him somewhere else and rolled him out of the car," Redmond said.
The area where the body was found is a half-mile east of Main Street, next to an old quarry on the north side of East Amherst and a vacant warehouse on the south side.
