On Sept. 27, the biggest travesty in major league baseball occurred when Roberto Alomar "did his thing" in the face of umpire John Hirschbeck. Baseball, and maybe some of its fans, can live with player and umpire strikes and maybe even the cancellation of the World Series, but it should not live with blatant disrespect for authority.
What Roberto Alomar did was an insult to every authority figure, whether it be in sports or everyday life. Baseball should be ashamed.
The Baltimore Orioles should have suspended Alomar as a sign of commitment to the fans and baseball.
