Authorities are investigating a complaint that a woman issued 11 bad checks last month to pay for $1,067 in groceries at the Tops Market on Lockport-Olcott Road.

Tops manager Jerry Slipko complained that the woman paid for the groceries between Sept. 23 and 29 with checks from a closed account at the Unit 1 Federal Credit Union, according to Niagara County Sheriff's Deputy Maurice Britt.

A grand larceny charge is pending against the woman, Britt said.
