Costume dress, an oral history presentation and bulletin boards reflecting activities of earlier generations of pupils will highlight the 100th anniversary celebration of Buffalo's Black Rock Academy School 51 at 101 Hertel Ave. April 25 through 29.
An opening ceremony at 10 a.m. April 25 will include a reading of the school's history and will be open to the public, said Principal John Bargnesi.
The festivities will end with a variety show and adult reception at 7 p.m. April 29. Former staff and former pupils are invited.
The building has been a public elementary school since it opened in September 1894, Bargnesi said. It now includes grades 3-8.
