A longtime second-grade teacher in a Batavia elementary school was arraigned Thursday in City Court on four counts of first-degree sexual abuse, a felony.

Richard Marino, 53, of Ellicott Street Road, East Bethany, was released on his own recognizance.

Assistant District Attorney Lawrence Friedman said the alleged crimes occurred at John F. Kennedy School, where Marino taught.

Police arrested Marino earlier Thursday. His case will be presented to a Genesee County grand jury.
