Services for former Attica resident Grace J. Ostertag, the widow of former U.S. Rep. Harold C. Ostertag, will be held at 8 p.m. Wednesday in the Marley Funeral Home, 135 Main St. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery.
Mrs. Ostertag, 94, died Saturday (Dec. 29, 1990) in her Pompano Beach, Fla., home.
Born in Varysburg, Mrs. Ostertag graduated from Attica High School and the Mechanics Institute in Rochester. She taught school in Machias.
She was a member of Thorpe Chapter 462, Order of Eastern Star, and a past state Eastern Star grand matron. She was a member of the Harder-O'Donnell Auxiliary, American Legion, and a former vice chairman and member of the Wyoming County Home Bureau.
She also was a director of the Wyoming County Fair Association and a first vice president of the Congressional Club in Washington.
She was a former president of the 82nd Congressional Club and former chairwoman of the New York State Fair Committee for the Home Bureau.
Her husband, who died in 1985, was a Republican member of the Assembly for 17 years. In 1950, he was elected to Congress, where he served seven terms.
Survivors include a sister, Bernice Auld of Kenmore.
