Actor Michael Crawford is back in the role he left eight months ago in what was thought to be his final bow in "The Phantom of the Opera."
"I'm making friends with the stage again," Crawford said in an interview before his New Year's Eve debut at the Ahmanson Theatre. Crawford left the production in April, saying he was exhausted after 1,069 performances.
"I was so tired. You have to pay things back to yourself, to your mind and body," Crawford said. Now, he's refreshed and ready to replace Robert Guillaume, who had been his replacement.
