Three women were injured seriously Monday evening when their car collided with a tractor-trailer at Saunders Settlement and Shawnee roads.
Erma Faye Muchow, 65, the driver of the car, was listed in stable condition in Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital, Amherst.
Mary Kaye Wilson, 75, was in serious condition in Erie County Medical Center.
Melba Pomante, 67, was treated in Mount St. Mary's Hospital, Town of Lewiston, where she was listed in stable condition, then transferred to Erie County Medical Center.
The women's car had a Maryland registration. Their addresses were unavailable.
Deputy John Taddeo said the car was struck by a tractor-trailer driven by Larry E. McDivitt, 42, of Pennsylvania, who was southbound on Shawnee Road. He was charged with failure to observe a stop sign.
Taddeo said the women's car went out of control after hitting the tractor-trailer and struck a car stopped for a light at the intersection before coming to rest in a ditch.
