A hitchhiker robbed a Town of Lancaster couple of $60 in cash and a gold mother's ring late Saturday night on Schwartz Road in the Town of Elma.

Erie County sheriff's deputies said the hitchhiker, described as a white male, 20 to 22 years old, 6 feet tall and 180 pounds, pulled a knife on the couple, who offered him a ride on Broadway in the Village of Lancaster. Deputies said the bandit wore white jogging pants, a red jacket and black baseball cap.
