A Mass of Christian Burial for U.S. Navy Petty Officer 2nd Class Brian Weaver, 22, of Slayton Settlement Road, who was stationed in the Middle East and was killed while on a sightseeing trip Dec. 23, will be offered at 11 a.m. Wednesday in St. Mary's Catholic Church, 8110 West Ave., Gasport. Burial will be in Hartland Central Cemetery.
A 1987 graduate of Royalton-Hartland Central School, Weaver was in the Navy for three years and stationed aboard the USS Midway in Strike Fighter Squadron 195. He previously was stationed in Japan. He was an aviation electrician's mate.
Weaver was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and worked from 1985 to 1987 at McDonald's Restaurant here.
He attained the rank of Eagle Scout with Troop 40, Boy Scouts, of Wrights Corners. In high school, he excelled in track and swimming and set school records in the 200-yard medley and butterfly stroke.
Surviving are his parents, Ronald and Shirley; five brothers, Michael of Burt, Jerry, Andrew, Eric and David; two sisters, Brenda Rathke of Taegu, Korea, and Beth, and his grandparents, Ronald Sr. and Cecelia.
