A memorial service for Nellie E. Wetmore, a retired elementary school teacher in Lockport and Niagara Falls, will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in the Lange Funeral Home, 186 East Ave. Burial will be private.
She died Sunday (Dec. 23, 1990) in Millard Fillmore Hospital, Buffalo. Miss Wetmore, 98, had resided at the Beechwood Residence in Getzville.
She had taught for 48 years in Lockport and LaSalle schools before her retirement. She graduated from Columbia University.
A former longtime Lockport resident, she was a charter member of the Lockport Camera Club. A member of Emmanuel United Methodist Church since 1922, she also was a member of the Lockport College Women's Club, the Niagara County Historical Society and the Lockport YWCA.
Miss Wetmore was a descendant of a pioneer family in Niagara County, and her ancestors were among the Pilgrims who arrived on the Mayflower.
