Jack Flanigen scored five driving victories, the first five-win effort of the season, Saturday night at Buffalo Raceway.
Four of the winners -- Armbro Durham, Zebulon, Danny Fo and Tiners Dave in the second, third, fourth and 10th races, respectively -- are trained by Flanigen's father, Steve, the leading trainer of the meeting. Jack Flanigen also scored with Flight Recorder, trained by Elizabeth Capellini, in the eighth.
Abajian made a successful debut in handicap competition as he won the $5,000 ninth-race pacing feature. Rodney Laframboise drove the 5-year-old, who had been racing in $20,000 claiming races. The winner closed smartly in the stretch to defeat MacDuff Hanover by 2 lengths in 2:03.
A J Crash turned in the second-fastest mile of the winter in winning the sixth race in 2:01 over a track rated sloppy as the result of continuing heavy rain. Only Freddie's Skipper's 2:00 3/5 winning mile Dec. 5 has been faster.
Closed today, Buffalo Raceway will program 11 races Monday (New Year's Eve), starting at 7:30 p.m.
