A Batavia man has been charged in the holdup of a convenience store as a result of a tip obtained through the Crime Stoppers program.

Timothy Arnette, 30, of Walden Creek Apartments was arrested Friday on a charge of first-degree robbery in connection with the Sept. 19 holdup at the Sugar Creek convenience store on West Main Street.

Police said Arnette entered the store at 2:30 a.m., threatened a clerk at knifepoint and took $450 in cash, checks and food stamps.

He was arraigned before City Court Judge Lawrence H. Schultz Jr. and is in the Genesee County Jail in lieu of $20,000 bail.
