A memorial service for John W. Stovall, a retired mechanical engineer who worked for Worthington Corp. for 43 years, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in Hamburg United Methodist Church, 116 Union St.
Stovall, 85, a Hamburg resident, died Tuesday (Dec. 25, 1990) in Our Lady of Victory Hospital, Lackawanna, after a long illness.
He attended what is now Carnegie Mellon University and worked for Worthington as Buffalo district manager of general sales. After leaving Worthington, he worked for the Buffalo Area Chamber of Commerce for three years.
Stovall served on the former Water Valley School Board, starting in 1945. After centralization, he served on the Hamburg School Board until 1960.
For 12 years he accepted appointments on the Erie County Board of Cooperative Educational Services. He stepped down in 1976.
Survivors include his wife, Jean S.; two sons, William O. of Battle Creek, Mich., and John K. of Denver, and two grandchildren.
