ROBBER THREATENS WORKERS, TAKES CASH FROM RESTAURANT

A man robbed a fast-food restaurant on West Ferry Street Wednesday after telling employees he was holding a pistol in his pocket, police said.

The thief ordered employees into an office in the back of McDonald's at 241 W. Ferry St., where he took an undisclosed amount of cash from a safe about 6 a.m., police said.

The man then herded employees into a refrigerated room before walking out of the restaurant.

Detective David Rivera said he would check to see if the thief could have committed similar robberies in Buffalo and Amherst, but the burglary squad investigator noted that witnesses gave different descriptions of those robbers who staged holdups at fast-food restaurants and filling stations.
