EASTERN GETS BIG U.S. CONTRACT

Eastern Airlines has been given a U.S. government contract worth up to an estimated $100 million to carry federal employees traveling on business in 1991.

The award comes as the U.S. Justice Department pursues a 60-count criminal indictment against Eastern and nine of its top managers, charging that safety records and other maintenance documents were falsified to keep its planes flying on time.
