SUSPECT IN TWO BURGLARIES IS ALSO CHARGED WITH RAPE

A burglary suspect accused of breaking into the same York Street home twice this month was apprehended after the second burglary late Tuesday night and charged with first-degree rape among other things.

Niagara Station Officers Thomas Keane and Roberto Rodriguez also charged Michael A. Coit, 31, of Whitney Place with two burglary counts, possession of stolen property, petit larceny and resisting arrest.

Police accused the suspect of breaking into the victim's residence on Dec. 2, threatening her with a knife, raping her and stealing items worth about $700.

Coit was arrested Tuesday night, after a videocassette recorder and some jewelry were taken in a burglary at the same residence, police said.
