ORLEANS CO-OP BENEFITS FROM VOLUNTEERS' SERVICES

The Orleans County Cooperative Extension Association says that volunteers to its 4-H, gardening, counseling and others services donated the equivalent of nearly $500,000 worth of services.

The dollar value was calculated from the 62,400 hours contributed by 4-H leaders and 3,000 hours by Orleans County Junior Fair directors and other hours and resources contributed by farmers involved in research projects. Additionally, the county's land drive raised $25,000 used to improve the Fairgrounds at Knowlesville.
