A Lockport man was arrested Monday and charged with the hit-and-run death of a Wilson man Oct. 1 near the Niagara County Jail.
Anthony Szeliga, 28, of 321 Washburn St. was charged with leaving the scene of an accident without reporting it, a felony. Arrested by Deputy Brett Thompson, he was being held in the Niagara County jail without bail pending arraignment Wednesday in Niagara County Court.
He is accused of driving a van that struck Donald Phillips, 25, of Wilson-Cambria Road, Wilson, at 7:13 p.m. Oct. 1. in the 4300 block of Sunset Drive. Phillips, who was directing a truck backing out of a driveway, died a short time later in Lockport Memorial Hospital.
