A man was shot in the left hand, losing three fingers, and another was arrested on an assault charge after a fight that started early Saturday in a Village of Lancaster tavern, police said.
Julian Wilczak, 29, of Broadway, Depew, was treated for a shotgun wound in Erie County Medical Center and was released. Michael Shepker, 28, of Central Avenue, Lancaster, was arrested on charges of assault and criminal use of a firearm, said Lancaster Police Officer Michael Carvelli.
Wilczak and Shepker began arguing in the Lamp Post Bar, 205 Central Ave., and Shepker left, returning with a shotgun, according to Carvelli and Lt. James Sugg.
While the men scuffled over the weapon in front of the tavern, it went off, striking Wilczak in the hand, Carvelli said. Depew and Lancaster police said they arrested Shepker a short time later in his apartment across the street.
Officers confiscated two other shotguns and two rifles, police said.
