Agnes Walsh of Orchard Park had just told some friends she would love to visit Florida to try to get rid of a cold that has been hanging on for a month.

Imagine her surprise the next morning when The Buffalo News called to tell her she had won first prize in this week's SUPER JINGO -- a trip to Orlando.

"This is just incredible!" exclaimed Ms. Walsh. "I've never won before. Maybe my luck is finally changing. What an incredible Christmas present," she said. "Thank you so much."

Ms. Walsh and a guest will enjoy round-trip air fare on USAir, hotel accommodations, a visit to Universal Studios Florida and $500 cash.

They will stay at the Delta Orlando Resort in the heart of Orlando and enjoy its many attractions. Set on 25 lush and beautifully landscaped acres, the resort features three outdoor swimming pools, three hot tubs, two kiddie pools, two lighted tennis courts, two saunas, a sand volleyball court, nine-hole mini golf, a chipping range, children's playground and Wally's Kids Club, a supervised activity center for children.

Universal Studios Florida features a fantasy of lights, camera, action. Universal brings Hollywood to Orlando in the 444-acre studios, offering everything from a flight with E.T. to a terrifying encounter with King Kong.

Flight arrangements are courtesy of USAir, which currently flies to more than 168 cities throughout the United States and Canada. USAir also travels to Bermuda, London and Frankfurt, Germany.

Other top prize winners in SUPER JINGO Game 449 include:

Emily Potenski of Niagara Falls, a weekend for two in Toronto.

The Wiederhold family of Buffalo, a 20-inch color TV set.

The Szczepaniak family of Elma, a weekend for two at La Tourelle, a country inn in Ithaca.

Eleanore Fronczak of Buffalo, $200 cash.

Emily Potenski has never had the chance to stay in Toronto, and her husband, Walter, has never been there , so Mrs. Potenski was thrilled to learn she had won a weekend for two at the Regal Constellation.

"How beautiful," she said. "What a nice Christmas present."

The Potenskis will enjoy dinner, compliments of the Constellation, and Sunday brunch before returning home.

Today's paper really holds a holiday surprise for the Wiederhold family. The News could not reach them by telephone, so today they find out that they have won a 20-inch color TV set in SUPER JINGO 449.

Veronica Szczepaniak had been playing SUPER JINGO for so long without a win that she began asking herself why she keeps playing. "I've just spent hundreds on stamps," she said. Now it all pays off with a weekend for her and her husband, Paul, at La Tourelle, a country inn in Ithaca. "This is fantastic!" she said. "I really needed this today."

"Oh, how nice," was Eleanore Fronczak's reply when she learned that she had won $200 cash. "I'll probably buy something for my nephews or pay some bills with it," she said when asked how she might spend her prize.

In addition to the five winners noted above, 95 additional Western New Yorkers learn today that their names have been selected for a prize. Winners do not need to phone or visit The News. Prizes will be mailed to them.
