The Niagara Frontier Builders' Association announces their donation of 400 turkeys -- one for each Association member -- to the Food Bank of Western New York.
Donations from the membership will pay for turkeys to be added to food baskets of canned goods which will be distributed to local needy families during the holidays.
"As part of the shelter industry we have a commitment to aiding needy families in our area," said Robert Tesmer, NFBA president.
"The United States is the best housed nation in the world," Tesmer said, "however, we know all too well that not every family in our society has adequate food or shelter. The holidays are an especially difficult time for these people. We hope this activity will become a yearly commitment for our Association," Tesmer said.
The NFBA project will be tied in with the Buffalo News Neediest Families fund, and the turkeys are being provided by Wegmans supermarkets at a reduced price.
