PATRON EJECTED FROM TAVERN FIRES SHOTS HURTING 2 WOMEN

Two Buffalo women were shot early today in a Broadway tavern after a man who had been ejected for causing trouble indiscriminately fired shots through the window, police said.

Patricia Ridgeway, 33, was hit in the lower back and taken to Erie County Medical Center, where she was admitted in fair condition shortly after being shot at 3:10 a.m., police and hospital officials said.

Raphaela Orticelli, 18, of Fillmore Avenue, suffered a wound to the forearm and was treated at the Medical Center and released.

Police said the women appeared to be innocent bystanders.

The shooting started after two men were ejected from the Club Virgoan at 832 Broadway near Guilford Street in the area of the city covered by officers of the Fillmore Station, police said.

A Fillmore Station officer said, "Two people were ejected, and one came back and shot through the widow." Police had not determined what sparked the dispute.
