ONE FROM THE HEART
Benedict House, a non-profit center on Buffalo's West Side, is the only residential facility in Western New York for persons with AIDS. Moved by an article about Benedict House in a recent issue of BUFFALO Magazine in The News, Kathy Moriarty, songwriter, singer and guitarist with the rock group Beat City, wanted to do something to help.
Beat City, for those who haven't followed them lately, is winner of the Best Original Band title at this year's Buffalo Music Awards, with lead singer Sue Kincaid similarly honored as Best Original Female Vocalist. Signed several months ago to Amherst Records, Moriarty and Kincaid shuffled their supporting musicians and emerged with a powerhouse lineup of guitarist George Puleo from Gamalon, bassist John Caruso from Emery Nash and Rodney Chamberlain on drums. Tonight, Moriarty's benevolent wishes come to life in the Marquee at the Tralf when the powerhouse takes the stage to benefit Benedict House. The show starts at 10 p.m.
